Agriconsulting Europe SA is concerned in the management of the new Contact Point European Network for Rural Development http://ec.europa.eu/agriculture/rurdev/enrd/index_en.htm.We are currently working on 3 different thematic working groups:

TWG 1: “targeting territorial specificities and need”, aims to facilitate through the European Rural Development Policy, and through programmes, and efficient targeting of the specificities and needs of rural territories. The development of a typology of rural areas, well situated to EU policy needs, is a major objective.

TWG 2: “agriculture and broader rural economy”, by the development of a typology of rural areas based on the degree of linkages between agricultural and on-agricultural sectors.

TWG 3: “public goods and intervention” that aims to set a strategy for facilitating the communication of complex issue of public goods and its significance for agriculture and rural areas.
In addition to that the Contact Point is providing support for analysis, summary of programmes, monitoring indicators and good practices. Focus is given to the 4 axis of the Rural Development Strategy and Programme, namely:

Axis 1) Improving the competitiveness of the agricultural and forestry sectors

Axis 3) Improving the quality of life in rural areas and encouraging diversification
