The programme had a five year duration and aimed at the institutional strengthening and capacity building of about 68 African Caribbean and Pacific (ACP) States in the fields of:
Fishery products hygiene and quality controls and inspection
Set up of testing laboratories, training on microbiological and residue monitoring;
Training of ACP Competent Authorities, Inspection Services and Technical institutes
Strengthening of small-scale fisheries, policy studies and Needs Assessment studies
Good manufacturing practices of fishery industry and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP) training
The services provided were:
Project / programme feasibility studies,
Project Management/coordination
Quality management
Project / programme identification, planning
Institutional capacity building
Sectoral policy design
Production of quantified key indicators
Set up of testing laboratories
Fisheries and Aquaculture development
Evaluation of the strategic planning of the program
