AESA has been awarded the project: DEVELOPMENT OF A WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PLAN IN THE KEUR SAMBA GUEYE MUNICIPALITY in Senegal

In July 2017, The Belgian Technical Cooperation (ENABEL) and the European Union signed a delegation agreement for the PARERBA (Project to Support the Reduction of Rural Emigration in the Peanut Basin) Project implementation.

The general objective of PARERBA is to fight emigration in the Senegalese Groundnut Basin by increasing economic opportunities for rural households and young people, as well as by supporting the creation of sustainable jobs in the promising economic sectors of the Basin

As part of this project, the aim of AESA’s contract is to develop a watershed management plan located in the Keur Samba Gueye municipality.

Activities:

• physical, biological and anthropic characterization of the catchment area
• identification of areas where agricultural development actions could be implemented;
• Identification of areas where protection measures (reforestation, hedgerows, assisted natural regeneration, agroforestry.. etc.) can be developed;
• Identification of areas where infrastructural investments are needed and cost estimation
• Elaboration and validation of a watershed management plan in a participative approach
